Concluding thoughts
5. These new machines are monsters. You've never seen anything like them.
4. It will take several years for their full capabilities to be understood and exploited, so look forward to better and better games as time passes.
3. These consoles will stream media like water from a fire hose, but real-time write functions like AI, gamer input, and physics may not be able to keep up due to hardware limitations (some think Xbox may have a slight edge here). Luckily game programmers have a lot of control over how they feed information to the hardware and how some parts of that hardware handle their information; so, again, look forward to improved game play as developers hone their skills on the new machines.
2. As usual, Sony puts a better package together for your money and brains. As far as peripherals and integration go, I'd give them the upper hand here. There's just more raw media capability in the PS3. But of course, this opinion is sight unseen. So I guess we'll see.
1. They both look cool, but I like the PS3's minimalist look. Marginal win for Sony.

xbox: "limited bacwards compatability (with extra purchase)"
also remember: dvd playback kit
also remember: xbox live subscription.
ps2: all kinds of compatability, dvd playback standard and internet play is free with your already existing highspeed internet.
microsoft = macrosuck.

hmmm . . .
I must admit I have an emotional attachment to Xbox.
I thought it dominated PS2.
Will my allegiances change?
Not sure.
I just know that NHL games were so much better on XBox. And the controls are easier in general.

I'm more of a fan of xbox because of the controllers. That's really the only reason why. I like the feel of them way more than the ps systems.
That's my opinion. The PS3 SEEMS like it will be better than the xbox. However, there are far better games on xbox than on the ps systems. If you are big into role playing, then I guess ps is good, but if you like first person shooters, xbox is the way to go, but I think it's mainly because of the controllers. The controllers are a big thing to me... I really couldn't even tell you why... yeah. So if they made an adaption of xbox controllers for ps and put better games on ps, i'd probably like it more. But as it stands, even if xbox is a little slower and not as sharp, it's the games and controllers that make the system. Not the speed. Atleast, that's my opinion.

Yeah, FPS games (not many mind you) are on the Xbox. And the controllers are better than PS2. But PS3 has new ones. They look weird. Wait and see I guess.
